Bayer Leverkusen has achieved a new milestone by securing the longest unbeaten streak ever recorded in the top-five European leagues.

Bayer Leverkusen has established a new unbeaten record following their 1-1 draw against West Ham United, advancing 3-1 on aggregate to the Europa League semi-finals. This comes after Xabi Alonso’s team celebrated their inaugural Bundesliga title win, clinching a 5-0 victory over Werder Bremen. Leverkusen’s quarter-final clash with West Ham saw them initially struggle, conceding an early goal to Michail Antonio. However, despite the pressure from West Ham, Leverkusen displayed resilience, eventually equalizing in the 89th minute through Jeremie Frimpong.

Leverkusen has surpassed Juventus to break a European record, extending their remarkable unbeaten run to 44 games across all competitions. With thirty-eight victories and six draws during this period, their latest draw with West Ham has propelled Alonso’s side to set a new milestone. Leverkusen’s 44-game unbeaten streak is now the longest for any team in Europe’s top-five leagues, overtaking Juventus’ previous record of 43 matches set between May 2011 and May 2012. Leverkusen’s last defeat occurred 328 days ago in May last year, when they were defeated 3-0 by VfL Bochum in the Bundesliga on the final day of the previous season.

Xhaka and Tah express their eagerness to claim victory in the Europa League. Following their qualification for the semi-finals, Leverkusen’s Granit Xhaka conveyed his satisfaction with their progress, acknowledging the challenging atmosphere created by West Ham’s supporters. He reflected on their fortune in the first half but emphasized their control over the game in the latter stages. Xhaka also expressed the team’s hunger for success, aiming to surpass their Bundesliga achievement and advance to the final in Dublin.
