Kieran Gibbs states that the young player from Inter Miami now comprehensively understands what it means to play alongside Lionel Messi.
In the new season, Inter Miami harbors renewed optimism about their chances to contend for the MLS Cup. Under the guidance of Tata Martino and with Messi leading the team, the addition of players like Luis Suarez has bolstered the squad significantly.
However, according to former defender Gibbs, one young player is now finding synergy with Messi on the field.
Diego Gomez now on Messi’s wavelength after strong start to the season
During an episode of the Inter Miami CF Weekly Show, the former Arsenal defender praised Diego Gomez for syncing up with Messi on the field, highlighting how the midfielder capitalized on Messi’s exceptional pass during Saturday’s match.
Considering that Inter Miami’s most effective plays often revolve around Messi, the more players who can sync up with the 36-year-old, the stronger the entire team will become.
Gomez has already formed a promising partnership with Messi. Gibbs remarked about Messi’s assist to Gomez, “This is when Messi is most lethal, and what impresses me is how quickly Gomez makes his run as soon as Messi takes that touch.”
“If you observe him closely, as he takes that initial touch, he’s off, and it’s incredibly difficult to defend against. He times his run impeccably, culminating in a fantastic finish.”
